David Charles Hettinger

The Norman Transcript

Charles David Hettinger of New York City, NY, died Saturday, March 12, 1994, following an extended illness. He was 43.

Memorial services for the former Norman resident are planned for 10 a.m. Thursday at the Mayes Chapel of Remembrance with Sunny Stuart officiating. Mayes Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.

The son of Chuck and Geraldine Hettinger, he was born July 8, 1950, in Norman. Mr. Hettinger graduated from Norman High School in 1969 and attended the University of Oklahoma where he studied acting. He also entertained the Kiwanas Club and several other groups.

While in New York, he was in several off-Broadway plays, movies, TV Shows and commercials. Mr. Hettinger also played Santa Claus for hospitals and other groups.

He and his wife, Marla, were married in Norman in 1985. She survives him at their home.

He is also survived by his father, Chuck of Norman, two brothers, Cleo Cleveland of Choctaw and Jim Cleveland of Norman; five nieces; one nephew; and several aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his mother Gearldine Hettinger.

The family has suggested the Leukemia Foundation as appropriate for memorial contributions.
